At Emirates NBD, we position Mobile Banking as our flagship channel in the market. As part of our overall Mobile Banking strategy, the bank recently launched peer-to-peer money transfer-‘Emirates NBD mePay’ – a new innovative instant money transfer service within 30 seconds. Emirates NBD mePay is the first of its kind in the region and enables customers to transfer money by using the recipient’s mobile phone number instantly through the Mobile Banking app. One key reason for launch was to encourage customers to use Mobile Banking as their preferred channel for transfers (thereby increasing the adoption of our Mobile Banking channel). This is mainly based on fact that UAE is one of the leading countries in the world in terms of usage and penetration of smartphones. Key Highlights - Emirates NBD mePay is the first of its kinds in the region - Within the one month since launch, 6% of our Mobile Banking customers have registered to Emirates NBD mePay and of those 10% of customers are actively using the service - Emirates NBD Mobile Banking Application is consistently ranked as #1 in the Finance category in Apple UAE App Store, out of 300 applications listed in the same category (offered for free), with an average of 4/5 stars in terms of customer satisfaction and now over 350,000 downloads - Our Mobile Banking active customers already represent 17% of the bank’s total active customer base and is growing extremely fast (by end of 2014, we are aiming to increase our number of active mobile customers by more than 100%)
