MetLife transformed their overall process for onboarding pilot project suppliers reducing overall supplier onboarding time from 6 – 9 months down to approximately 4 – 6 weeks. Business partners often get frustrated with the process being long, interfering with their ability to capitalize on critical windows of opportunity. Furthermore, coordinating across multiple corporate functions resulted in redundancy, duplicative steps and delays. MetLife solved for this with 4 key design changes: - Central Coordination: Onboarding Facilitator coordinates process flow and information sharing, enabling participants to focus on other high-value activities - Standardized Information and Monitoring: Standardized information intake and progress monitoring make the process simple and transparent for all participants - Cross functional collaboration: Kickoff Meeting ensures all functions are aligned on Day 1, and Weekly Huddles ensure rapid issue identification and resolution - Modular Contracts and Risk Questionnaire: Risk questionnaire, NDA and trial agreement easily scale up and down based on the risk and complexity of the pilot / POC so all requirements are fit for purpose
