Leo the chatbot has already responded to answer more than 45,500 questions asked by Generali employees from around the world. Leo was designed in response to needs identified during the 2017 Global Employee Survey. Employees voiced their concerns that the corporate strategy was not always clear, especially in how it related to their jobs. Since the survey, Generali has launched a new corporate strategy and the Communications team wanted to make it easier for each employee tor understand Generali’s latest strategy and how it impacted them. One of the pillars of the new strategy calls for digital innovation. The chatbot makes use of AI to respond to questions on Generali’s strategy, learning more as employees ask more. Leo puts the new strategy in action, making it easy to respond to employee questions 24/7, and sharing the latest news and topics most relevant to employees, such as providing content on employee training programs and the chance to purchase stock options. Creating Leo involved a massive coordination effort of close to 100 employees, from over 25 business units and departments across 14, countries. Working with agile methodology and once launched, constant analysis has been performed, resulting in the addition of new features such as a built in survey and quiz function, updated news and notifications and improved analytics to better track when, where and how Leo was being used along with how Leo was funneling people to the Employee portal to gain more info.
