Caser Salud +60 Qorus-NTT DATA Innovation in Insurance Awards 2025

The health insurance, Caser Salud +60 , was born after detecting an opportunity to innovate in health insurance for the target group of older people. On one hand, the senior market in Spain is a broad target and is also growing. Currently, there are more than 13 million people, and it is expected that 30% of the population in our country will be over 60 years old by 2030. On the other hand, in health insurance, the age of contracting is limited due to the product's profitability. Normally, there is no offer on the market for people over 70 years old. We also investigated with clients. We conducted several qualitative study groups with consumers over 60 years old. In these studies, we sought to identify unmet needs or unresolved problems around health for this group of clients. We found 2 main insights in this research: 1) Senior clients feel "excluded" from health insurance. Due to their age, their pre-existing health conditions, and the high prices they would have to pay, they feel that health insurance is not for them. 2) The second insight they shared was that their main health concern was obtaining a quick diagnosis if something happened to them, which would provide them with peace of mind. In Spain, waiting lists in public healthcare can reach up to 130 days to see a specialist and 120 days for a diagnostic test. These long waiting lists to obtain a diagnosis generate a lot of concern and prolonged uncertainty.

After listening to the costumer, we created a health product focused on the main 2 insights obtained in the research : 1) On one hand, we created an insurance to accommodate all people over 60, with no age limit and no medical questionnaire. 2) On the other hand, the product has been created with the necessary coverage so that the client can have a quick diagnosis of their illness. The insurance includes access to medical specialties and diagnostic tests. Additionally, Caser Salud +60 includes other exclusive services for seniors that will be explained in the following section.

Additionally, to make the premium more affordable, coverage not applicable to the product's target, such as all those related to maternity, childbirth, and reproduction, has been removed.
