Innovation presentation
Launched in April 2024 via the MAE app, the Goal-Based Investing (GBI) platform aims to simplify investing and make wealth management more accessible. The platform enables users to set personalized investment goals such as saving for a home, education, or retirement, offering tailored investment solutions based on their individual financial objectives and risk profiles. GBI was created in response to the growing demand for inclusive and user-friendly investment tools, particularly among younger, tech-savvy individuals.
Operating in a competitive digital wealth management landscape, GBI distinguishes itself by offering both conventional and Shariah-compliant options, making investing accessible to a broader audience. The platform’s low minimum investment requirement and intuitive interface further break down traditional barriers to entry.
Inspiration for GBI came from global trends towards financial democratization and the desire to foster financial literacy. Departments across wealth management, digital banking, compliance, and IT collaborated to create a seamless user experience while ensuring regulatory adherence.
By December 2024, GBI had already facilitated the creation of over 50,000 investment goals valued at RM 11.56 million, demonstrating its success in empowering users to take charge of their financial futures and contributing to Maybank’s commitment to financial inclusion.
