Preventing planned obsolescence of buildings: that is the goal of policymakers, local governments and developers, for whom building flexibility and reversibility is a major concern. Indeed, changes to the nuclear family (divorce, blended families, etc.), changes in ways of living (co-living, mixed office/home buildings, etc.), and even the successive lockdown periods have profoundly altered the way we live and how we relate to our homes, with more flexibility over time.
