sijox AppDrive is the telematics car insurance for young people by the Signal Iduna Insurance Group, Germany. With AppDrive the insurance customer is in charge of how much he saves on his car insurance – up to 40% on the premium is possible. To monitor the driver’s performance, AppDrive uses the TomTom Link 100 OBD2-connector. The data is transmitted via Bluetooth to the AppDrive App, which connects to a server that evaluates the performance and shows an overall score. The customer now has full control over how much he saves. The app is available for iOS and Android and is free of charge, as is the TomTom Link100. AppDrive monitors three key indications: acceleration force, brake force and apex speed. It does not monitor the customer’s position or how much he drives in one year – the reason is simple: AppDrive only rewards the behavior of the driver. To Signal Iduna it is important to create more touch points between the insurance and the customer – this is achieved with sijox AppDrive, which not only monitors the behavior of the driver but also gives him tipps on how to become a better driver. A customer’s statement shows that the service AppDrive provides has the power to change the way customers view their insurance. She said: “After driving school I felt alone in the car, with AppDrive I somehow feel saver, because I can check how good I am driving and have someone who gives me advice on how to get even better.”
