As part of its commitment to the broker channel, RSA launched Wise Up™, an entirely online continuing education platform which gives brokers access to professional development content and the ability to track their mandatory education credits in a format that was best suited to their busy lives.

Broker partnership is of the utmost importance to RSA; that’s why we invest in broker education. We have several unique accredited education programs in place. Our commitment to broker education aligns well to our overall strategy to support the broker channel by investing in best in class education programs that support the perpetuation of our broker partners’ businesses.
In May 2016, we launched our innovative online learning management system, Wise Up™, which makes continuing education more convenient than ever before. Wise Up™ gives brokers the ability to complete their provincial continuing education hours on their own schedule, wherever they might be. The program can be accessed via mobile device, tablet or desktop computer — all one needs is an internet connection! Whether helping develop an organization’s future leadership or training frontline staff on regulatory changes, RSA offers innovative broker education that allows brokers to receive accredited training hours without leaving their desks. Our solution demonstrates our understanding of broker needs.
As of the end of 2016, a total of 1,179 brokers completed 3,500+ courses on Wise Up™. A post-launch survey revealed that 100% of the brokers who signed up for Wise Up™ said they planned to use the platform to fulfill their ongoing edcation.
Wise Up™ makes us the first insurer in Canada to provide broker education in an entirely online format. The program is already available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland and Labrador and will launch in Quebec this year.
Uniqueness of the project
The launch of Wise Up™ makes RSA the first Canadian insurer to offer a convenient, online option for brokers to earn professional development credits from the comfort of their office or on the go.
Wise Up™ built on the success of RSA’s RIBO Accredited Education Program in September 2015, which offered Ontario brokers learning content that was designed to be empirical, incorporating hands-on learning, scenario-based analysis and on-the-job simulations. The learnings from the program allowed us to develop a program that could be launched successfully across Canada.

The Reason Behind
Broker partnership is at the core of RSA’s business growth plans; broker education programs form a key pillar of this investment. RSA had existing broker education programming including Making Partner, an accelerated week-long training program designed to give senior brokers the key skills needed to enhance their leadership; and training sessions to help brokers earn continuing education credits.
Like many other professionals, insurance brokers have licensing requirements that require them to earn accredited continuing-education credits each year. Wise Up™ offered a convenient, online option for brokers to earn professional development credits from the comfort of their office or even on the go – a first of its kind in the industry.
This launch has provided brokers with a convenient option to top up their required accreditation hours, while still allowing them to balance their day to day brokerage operation responsibilities. Feedback from brokers has been consistently positive, and registration is on the rise.

A post-launch survey revealed that brokers cited ease of use and relevance of the content as the top reasons they used Wise Up™. In fact, 100% of brokers surveyed said they would continue to use the platform to keep up with their mandatory professional development credits.
