CityRemit - a cross-border banking remittance app by City Bank PLC Qorus-Infosys Finacle Banking Innovation Awards 2024

Proudly presenting City Remit, the first ever Bangladeshi cross-border banking remittance app. City Remit allows you to transfer money seamlessly from Malaysia to Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka instantly in a secure way from Malaysian bank accounts through the Malaysian Banking Gateway along with the other existing remittance sending options. Our objective is to offer a simple remittance sending planform where our Nonresidential Bangladeshi (NRB) can transfer money in a – anytime-anywhere- manner. There were many challenges involved in the City Remit project at initial stage, but finally it took off and flying at a high altitude. We are now striving to bring positive changes in the economy of Bangladesh in terms of financial inclusion, modern digital financial services and et.al. City bank is committed and have zero tolerance against use of illegal channels to send money. Cityremit is a bright example of it. We are working hard to make a difference in the lives of Bangladeshis around the world.

City remit has inspiring financial numbers, be it number of registered users or transaction volume. From July 27, 2022 , CityRemit has 58,263 users and 86,338 transactions yearly. It has sent USD 13.78 million in remittances to Bangladesh, and the total remittance volume is USD 27.32 million.

What is more, access to financial must not have barrier. CityRemit's goal is to facilitate all Bangladeshis to contribute to the Bangladesh economy and ensure no Bangladeshi wage earners should be left behind when it comes to using banking channels to remit money to their home country. We are planning to offer more sub product under cityremit to offer loyalty rewards and many other customer centric benefits. It’s a matter of time only.
