Innovation presentation

Figo Pet Insurance, a Chicago-based startup, aimed to transform their industry by increasing access to pet insurance and improving customer experience with integrated technologies. Figo got its start at 1871, the premier technology incubator, and one of Google’s Tech Hubs in North America. Their mission—to make life easier for pets and their people--is supported by their comprehensive insurance plans and by giving pet parents the tools they need to manage their pet's life in the palm of their hand with the Figo Pet Cloud. The insurance industry is behind the times—with many insurers still employing siloed backend systems, unable to adapt or leverage today’s technology. From the start, Figo positioned itself as an insurtech company—their first product aimed at the pet insurance industry. To evolve an antiquated industry, they built their insurance product with customer experience top of mind. By applying UX design principles and building on a no-stack system architecture (i.e. Uber), they created a seamless experience for the end-user regardless of preferred device. The public-facing interface was designed with the mobile user in mind; and the integration between Insuresoft’s policy administration system, the customer relationship management system, and the Figo Pet Cloud ensures instant rate retrieval, personalized customer service and real-time access to account and profile information. Figo then enhanced this architecture and applied it to their business-to-business distribution strategy. As a result, they were able to quickly launch custom veterinary hospital portals; upload 7,000 independent insurance agents into the Diamond platform; execute HR-direct and group employee enrollment with some of the largest employee benefit brokers in the country; and launch a team of territory partners located in 14 cities around the country.
