Intrepid is a U.S.-based bank alternative for digital entrepreneurs and global remote teams. We interviewed its Co-Founder and CEO Collin Thompson to learn more about this exciting new player in the banking industry.
In which countries do you operate, and how do you perceive the banking offer to SMEs there? In your opinion, does the offer from existing financial institutions meet the needs of SMEs?
We operate in the US and Canada and plan to expand into the UK and EU later this year. We expect to roll out a new territory every quarter, with Mexico, India, Hong Kong and Singapore on our roadmap.
In many countries outside the US and Western Europe, there are few business ‘neobank’ options for digital entrepreneurs – those born and raised in the digital age and who use digital technology as a critical part of their business, like earning an income on platforms like Tiktok, Instagram, Youtube, and e-commerce platforms like Amazon or Lazada.
Digital entrepreneurs often have unique financial needs and prefer using digital tools to manage their finances; we believe that traditional financial institutions may not always meet their needs – especially when accessing global markets, platforms and talent. By catering to the unique needs of MSMEs and digital entrepreneurs, we can provide a more valuable and relevant service than traditional financial banks.
