D&I is 1 of our key areas in our social sustainability journey. Through processes and culture changes, we want to ensure respect and psychological safety. Two innovative projects in our strategy are our D&I Communities and the D&I Development Journey

Innovation presentation

Since 2023, we have implemented a cross-functional training program on diversity and inclusion. An initiative that goes beyond conventional metrics, delving deep into the roots of issues and fostering a culture that respects and celebrates everyone’s uniqueness.

We are very proud that we made this an in-person from 6h to 12h training that is mandatory for everyone in the organization! This training is tailored to each roles in the organization and it covers the basics of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Culture of Equity, Inclusive Leadership and Recruitment

Our D&I Communities are our Employee Resource Groups and they make sure Diversity and Inclusion is being lived at the fullest in safe-space creation and transformation promotion within Grupo Ageas Portugal! Since they were created in 2023 they inspire change, unite people and bring D&I to spread accross our people!

We have now 6 groups for the different diversity dimensions (Gender, Age, LGBTQI+. Disabilities, Ethnicity and Work-Life balance) with around 100 people involved and the sponsorship support from our executive committee. These groups are now operating for 1 year and they have been important safe spaces of belonging bringing new initiatives to the company and inspiring key process changes.

Uniqueness of the project

The D&I Development Journey is tailor made to the specific needs of each role within the organization, focusing the themes to each role in the company. It comprises 4 different sessions addressing the following topics:

• Executive Committee: Bases of DEI; Oppression & Privilege; DEI at Group Ageas Portugal; Inclusive Leadership (12 hours in total);

• Human Resources and D&I Team: Bases of DEI; Legal Setting of D&I; Inclusive Recruitment; Inclusive Leadership (11 hours in total);

• Leadership: Bases of DEI, A Culture of Equity, D&I in Our Teams, Inclusive Leadership (11 hours in total);

• Individual Contributors: Bases of DEI; Bias & Microaggressions (6 hours in total).

It's not usual to have mandatory in-person tailored trainings in organizations, that's why we believe this is unique, and we are proud of it.

D&I Communities/ Employee Resource Groups are not common in Portuguese Organizations and in Insurance settings so by advancing our D&I efforts through involving our people we feel like we are doing na unique step towards the right direction!
