About
SPIDER, is an intelligent tool that links databases and combats insurance fraud through graph visualization and predictive alerts. In November 2023, it added a user interface (Nephila), for financial security personnel, integrating AML/CFT efforts.
Innovation presentation
SPIDER is a tool put into production in 2019 that intelligently links Generali France's databases and initially makes it possible to fight against internal and external insurance fraud through:
• A pioneering technique: Spider offers a graph visualization of the knowledge base containing most of the data of the people known to Generali. This visual restitution of people's activities facilitates the investigation and detection of fraud.
• A predictive tool: based on fraud detection scenarios built with business experts and implemented in Spider, fraud alerts are sent to employees dedicated to financial security who can then verify the relevance of the reported alert.
With the launch in November 2023, the application now offers a user interface (Nephila) for employees dedicated to financial security. It offers a visualization in the form of a person file allowing the orchestration and monitoring of activities in terms of the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing (risk analysis, enhanced examination, reporting of suspicions, surveillance, etc.), by integrating AML/CFT into the SPIDER database.
Thanks to the visualization of data (graphically oriented) in the context of fraud and financial crime investigations. It offers a 360° view of the people Generali knows, within a single application. A real gain in operational productivity for financial security professions, it facilitates the monitoring of people at risk of AML/CFT with:
• Nephila: an interface dedicated to reinforced examination forms and suspicious activity reporting at tracfin (Intelligence processing and action against clandestine financial circuits).
• A quarterly analysis of the database to identify new people at risk.
Uniqueness of the project
Initially, the monitoring of the client portfolio was done manually:
• Starting with data entry into Excel sheets,
• Subsequently, the investigation was done based on concatenation of several Excel files,
• It could take several days to gather the information and understand it. This time-consuming method prevented real-time management for employees.
Spider's Objective:
The regulatory obligation imposes the need to control the regulatory risk of us
customer portfolio. The integration of AML/CFT with the SPIDER database addresses these needs and accelerates AML/CFT. In addition, the AML/CFT team needed to digitize their Excel files in a secure tool to facilitate administration.
Spider and its Nephila user interface allow you to:
• Centralize the monitoring of the customer portfolio based on spider data,
• Facilitate fraud detection and employee investigation.
• Manage our risks in real time
• Meeting our regulatory reporting obligations
